Technical Felling of a Palm Tree (Washingtonia robusta) in a Confined Space

We’re sharing a case study of a highly technically complex project: the safe removal of a large palm tree—a Washingtonia robusta—trapped between homes and surrounded by a very well-maintained garden, where there was absolutely no room for error. Take a look at the images of the scene.

What Was Done

The operation required meticulous planning due to the complete lack of a clear fall zone. The palm tree was located in a narrow garden, surrounded by two houses and structural walls.

To eliminate any risk of impact on the buildings, we used the controlled dismantling method. The team climbed the tree and progressively cut the crown and trunk into sections. Each section was lowered gently and in a fully controlled manner. The rigorous execution of this work plan made it possible to successfully eliminate the risk posed by the palm tree without causing any damage to the houses, walls, or the surrounding garden.

The final result demonstrates that with the right planning and professionals, anything is possible.
